Somerset Patriots' Community Box winners chosen

Somerset County Freeholder Director Patricia L. Walsh selected 40 nonprofit organizations in an annual drawing for Community Box seats at the TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater.

The winners will have an opportunity to watch the Patriots play home games on various dates during the 2016 season, which begins Thursday with a 7:05 p.m. home game. The team's annual Fan Fest takes place Saturday.

"Since the time the ballpark was constructed by the county, one 30-seat community box has been available for the benefit of nonprofits and community organizations," Walsh said. "This tradition allows us to showcase the amazing work being done by these organizations to improve the lives of Somerset County residents."

Winners are nonprofits whose client base consists of at least 50 percent Somerset County residents or community organizations that are located in Somerset County or have a facility based in Somerset County that serves the citizens of Somerset County, according to the news release. Winners provide a significant community service or volunteer element to Somerset County residents.

The Somerset Patriots are holding the annual Fan Fest at TD Bank Ballpark from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016.

Winners in the drawing include several emergency services organizations:

  • Bradley Gardens First Aid & Rescue Squad in Bridgewater
  • Manville First Aid & Rescue Squad
  • Montgomery EMS
  • Somerville Rescue Squad

Eleven youth organizations will watch the Patriots play:


  • Boy Scout Troop 154 in Bedminster
  • Millington Baptist Church Youth Group in Bernards
  • Boy Scout Troop 90 in Branchburg
  • 4-H Beekeeping Club
  • Bridgewater High School Fishing Club
  • Jack's Kids and the Somerset Home for Temporarily Displaced Children in Bridgewater
  • Hillsborough High School Home and School Forum
  • Montgomery Girl Scout Troop 60624
  • Saint Matthias School in Franklin
  • Boy Scout Troop 84 in Somerville

Other winners include the following senior organizations:

  • Branchburg Township Senior Citizens
  • Adult Day Center of Somerset County, Centerbridge I and Centerbridge II in Bridgewater
  • Franklin Township Senior Citizen Club
